Tim Walz breaks down in tears during Kamala Harris’ concession speech. As Kamala Harris delivered a tearful speech following her defeat by Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election, Walz started crying.
During her concession speech on Wednesday night, Harris spoke out about her defeat, causing dozens of people in the audience to cry and wear sunglasses, as quoted in a report by The US Sun.
When Walz, 60, made the remarks at Howard University in Washington, DC, he was seen sobbing and covering his heart. The governor of Minnesota was accompanied by his daughter Hope and wife Gwen, both of whom were wearing sunglasses. In the crowd, Harris’ stepdaughter Ella Emhoff was also observed crying.
Harris spoke for about 12 minutes, comforting her devastated supporters after Trump’s landslide victory. Harris appeared to choke up during the speech, expressing gratitude for her team and supporters during the campaign, which began just months ago when President Joe Biden withdrew from the race.
Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, were notably absent from the speech. Harris called Trump and conceded, asking him for a peaceful transition of power. When Harris mentioned Trump’s name, the crowd erupted in boos
The Obamas shared a statement after spending multiple weeks on the campaign trail with Harris, stating that living in a democracy is about recognizing that their point of view won’t always win out and being willing to accept the peaceful transfer of power.
